Saipua | Esperance, NY
Saipua was founded by matriarch Susan Ryhanen, who began making olive oil soap in her basement in 1999 using a shoebox as a mold. What started as a small hobby grew into a family business, with her husband Pentti engineering tools and her daughter Sarah rebranding the line as Saipua—a nod to Pentti’s Finnish roots and the word for “soap.” Today, production takes place at Worlds End Farm in upstate New York, Saipua remains a true family endeavor where over 200,000 bars of olive oil soap are crafted each year by Susan, Pentti, and the farm’s close-knit community.
