Based in Philadelphia, husband and wife duo Walter and Margaux launched Peg+Awl piece by piece, with no real plan other than to activate their zest for history and particularly the history imbued in salvaged, old, mismatched things. Storytellers and craftspeople in their own right, Margaux and Walter create wearable curiosities, keepsakes, and treasures with materials collected from flea markets, old shops, abandoned houses, yard sales, and shadowy basements. Most of what they use to make their waxed canvas totes, pouches, and other goods is more than a century old, and each distinctive piece bears the signature marks of a not-fully-known and not-quite-finished past.
