Meet the Maker: FAYCE Textiles

June 08, 2015

Hailing from our very own Northampton, MA is the very talented Kim Rosen; designer of FAYCE textiles. Before working with fabrics and textiles, Kim spent ten years pioneering a successful freelance illustration business. With an eye for pattern-making and clean, structural beauty, her delicate line work moves seamlessly across all mediums.

Her FAYCE textile collection is hand screen printed in the United States with water-based, non-toxic ink on unbleached linen. Kim's textile designs are quiet and muted in color, but intricate and detailed in design. The soft and subtle hues coupled with complex design add interest to an interior space without overwhelming the collective atmosphere.

RELIC

Kim recently developed a collection of patterns (RELIC) that she hand draws, digitizes and embroiders onto 100% linen. These patterns are then crafted into pillows and wall hangings, which we carry here at KESTREL. The RELIC designs are born from small sections of larger drawings. This particular series is inspired by architecture of century old buildings, the subtleties of the natural world, vintage fabrics, and a collection of family heirlooms cherished throughout the years.

We particularly love Kim's RELIC wall hangings. They look so at home on our shop walls that they're hard to let go of! Wall hangings are the perfect alternative to traditionally framed wall decor. The abstract nature of Kim's designs give these wall hangings a versatile and adaptable quality, elevating a sense of beauty in any home space. We are so fortunate to connect with so many fabulous local designers, makers, and artists. FAYCE textiles is one of our most cherished additions to the shop this year.
